  • Champions: Amus College School (Teso Region)
  • Runners up: Bukedea Comprehensive School South (Teso Region)
  • Bronze medalists: St Mary’s Kitende (Wakiso Region)

Individual top players in the tournament:

  • Most Valuable Player (MVP): Simon Wanyama (Bukedea Comprehensive School South)
  • Top Scorer: Matthew Ethan Mukwhana (St Peter’s College Tororo) – 12 Goals
  • Best Goalkeeper: Usama Chagamo (Amus College School)

The curtains for the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys’ football were majestically brought down on Tuesday, 19th May at the Lira Town College playground before thousands of people.

Amus College School overcame rivals and neighbours Bukedea Comprehensive School South 1-0 to lift the trophy for the first time ever.

John Brian Otim struck home the priceless goal, a well taken free kick on 23 minutes as they became the first school from Teso region to win the trophy.

Otim was named man of the match in this contest that was dominated by either team in each of the halves.

Amus College School took the opening stanza with Bukedea Comprehensive School South outplaying their opponents in the second half.

“We started the preparations early and happy that the players delivered to the best of their expectations. The focus is now on the East Africa championships in Tanzania” Richard Malinga, head coach of Amus College who also won with Buddo S.S last year hinted.

Individual awards:

Forward Simon Wanyama, of Bukedea Comprehensive School South was the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

With 12 goals to his name tag, Matthew Ethan Mukwhana from St Peter’s College Tororo finished as top scorer.

“I am happy to have scored the most goals in the tournament. Prior to the tournament, I trained well with the teammates and was also top scorer at the regional level” Mukwhana, a S6 student of BCM/ICT remarked.

Amus College goalkeeper Usama Chagamo was named as the most outstanding goalkeeper in the tournament.

Chagamo was in tip-top form throughout the tournament shinning in the round of 16 contest with Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) where he kept a clean sheet and saved a penalty in the shootout, had another clean sheet against London College Nansana, St Mary’s Kitende and in the final against Bukedea Comprehensive South.

At the semi-final with St Mary’s Kitende, Chagamo saved a penalty in the shoot –out against skipper Collins Ochatre.
