Busoga United overcame Kisugu United 4-1 during a round of 64 Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday, January 21, 2021.
Mustafa Anwar Ntege scored a brace in the second game of the double header that followed Kitara’s win over Kireka Young.
Busoga United captain Anthony Mayanja and Shaka Ssozi got the other goals for the visitors.
Allan Jada scored Kisugu United’s consolation via a well struck penalty to lift the spirits of their enthusiatic crowd.
The early kick off that started by 1 PM witnessed FUFA Big League side Kitara eliminate Kampala regional outfit Kireka Young.
Kitara won 5-3 in a tense post match penalty after normal time had ended one goal apiece in the first of the double header on the sunny afternoon.
Peter Lumoro gave Kitara the lead in the 42nd minute that was neutralized by Paul Kibandwa two minutes later.
Kitara won 5-3 in the tense shoot-out after the 1-all draw in normal time.
Captain Maxwell Owachigiu, Richard Enjama, John Stuart Mwesigwa, Kizito Zakayo and Lumoro netted the penalties for Kitara.
Derrick Segawa, skipper Tonny Kiberu and Kibandwa got the goals for Kireka Young as Juma Nshimiyamaana blasted his kick over.
Elsewhere, Sports Club Tawai lost 2-1 at home to Ndejje University.
Josephat Ayebare and Abraham Ainemani scored Ndejje University’s goals.
In Ngora, Luweero United beat Basere 2-1 with Derrick Mudali scoring a brace.
Qualified clubs:
There are a couple of qualified clubs to the round of 32. Kitara, Busoga United, Ndejje University, Luweero United, Police , Kajjansi United, Tepa, Wakiso Giants, Booma, Rusekere Growers and Gaddafi are already assured of at least Shs 2,000,0000.
FUFA Competitions department is yet to come up with the verdict of Bundimasoli and BUL after the match between these two clubs did not take place in Bundibungyo.
The winner of the Uganda Cup earns the ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
Vipers are the reigning champions after humiliating BUL 8-2 in last season’s final played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
