Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Football Club advanced to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32 stage with an easy 3-0 win over Soroti at the Soroti Stadium on Monday, 24th January 2022.
Teenagers Yasin Sabir, Phillip Angelo Taban and Rogers Mugisha scored the three goals for UPDF, an entity coached by Brian Ssenyondo.
Sabir gave the visitors the early lead. Towering Taban then added the second as UPDF led 2-0 by the mandatory half way break.
Stylish midfielder Mugisha wrapped the icing on the cake with the third goal that advances the army funded club to the round of 32 where they are assured of at least Shs 2,000,000.

Meanwhile, in the other games played on the day, FUFA Big League outfit Maroons eliminated Eastern regional side Jinja North United 4-2 in post-match penalties at the St John Wakitaka ground in Jinja City.
Normal time had ended one-goal apiece with Andrew Basooma scoring the opener for Jinja North United.
William Kiibi leveled the matters for Maroons and push the game into the shoot-outs.
Former Vipers midfielder Azizi Kemba, the day’s captain for Jinja North United and Musa Kiiza Yonah missed for the hosts.
Franco Mugomba and Shaban Bayo scored their only two penalties.
At the Soroti Stadium, Ateker eliminated Lugazi Municipal 4-2 in post-match penalties after 1-all draw in normal time.
Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars edged out Buganda Regional side Free Stars 7-6 in post-match penalties at the Bishops primary school playground in Mukono.
Normal time had also ended one goal apiece.
The round of 64 continues with two matches on Tuesday, January 25, 2022.
Kitara regional side Bujumbura hosts West Nile regional club Paidha Black Angels at the Kibanjwa ground in the Oil city of Hoima.
In the other game, Iganga Young will be home to Calvary at the Ssaza ground, Iganga.
The winner of the Uganda Cup earns the ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
Vipers are the reigning champions after humiliating BUL 8-2 in last season’s final played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
